With January feeling as if it went on for a LOT longer, we finally welcome February!. February is the shortest month of the year and welcomes the first flowers, primroses, anemones and crocuses. In nature we can spot hazel flowers, early amphibians and frogspawn with birdsong and chirrups more evident as the birds define their territories.

Here in Devon, we’ve had so much rainfall that I hope February is a time when everything can dry out. Perhaps those of you who did dry January might disagree! As we look forward to a new month, here’s a selection of local events and things to do:

  1. Library & Archives In Focus: All Loves Excelling – Feb 12th Exeter Cathedral 

    At Exeter Cathedral, you can visit the Library and Archives department to discover how writers and poets across the centuries have expressed the mystery of love divine. This is a free drop-in session. No booking is required. Find out more

  2.  2:22 A Ghost Story comes to Plymouth. 9th Feb – 14th Feb

    We saw this stage show in London a few years ago having got last minute seats. Wow…it’s brilliant. I mean if you’re in for jump scares, the sound of foxes wailing like banshees and a really great ghost story with a big twist, then this is worth seeing. Book tickets

    3.Beryl Cook Art Exhibition 14th Feb – 14th June 

    If  you’re heading to The Box in Plymouth, then do catch Beryl’s exhibition “Pride and Joy” With her unique take on life, full of humour and fun, this looks like a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Find out more

    4. Adele – The Candlelight Concert 28th Feb at The Babbacombe Theatre

    Sadly I think the real Adele is in LA next to her pool with a pinot, but this could well be the next best thing!     5. Signs of Spring on the Killerton Estate – Feb onwards

    We love the Killerton Estate, not only because of the grounds, but the house. It really does transport you back to a time of elegance and is steeped in history. Killerton is showcasing a “Signs of Spring” and this combined with a new fashion exhibition due on the 14th feb, there’s plenty to get involved with. For fellow book nerds, there’s also a fantastic second hand bookshop onsite. Find out more

    7. Antique and Collectors Fair 14th Feb – 15th Feb 

    This is the highlight of our diary! (Sorry my diary, Nick probably not so much!) But the annual Antique and Collectors Fair comes to Exeter. Always a good opportunity to have a rummage through the pre-loved and vintage treasures. Book tickets

    8. Ripple Effects: Aquatic Walking and Listening Workshop – Exeter Northcott Theatre 10th Feb
