The Book Nook Dartmoor is a finalist in three categories at The Devon Tourism Awards 2026!!!

We’re pinching ourselves whilst typing, but we’re delighted to announce we’ve made the final in the categories of:

New Tourism Business of the year.

Self Catering Accommodation of the year.

Regenerative Tourism Award.

If you happen to hear a small cheer echoing across our hidden valley, that’ll be us! Being recognised in three very different categories feels particularly special because each one tells a different part of our story and we’ve worked SO hard to get here!

New Tourism Business

Starting something new is equal parts excitement, hard work and wondering whether you’ve completely lost the plot. This category celebrates the journey of creating The Book Nook from an idea into a place where people can come, slow down and make memories of their own. Although we bring fifteen years of hosting to the table, The Book Nook is a very new chapter within our story and we’re thrilled that you find it as charming as we do.

Self Catering Accommodation

We wanted the cabin to feel like somewhere you had stumbled upon in a favourite childhood story. There’s a mezzanine bed tucked beneath the roof, walls lined with books, a wood-burning stove, a garden opening onto the landscape and a magical wardrobe that leads into the woods. There are little surprises, too, including a library card waiting before arrival and our own illustrated book to take home.

It’s the small things that make a stay feel personal. We hope our guests leave feeling that they’ve been somewhere a little different.

Regenerative Tourism

This one is especially close to our hearts.

The Book Nook sits on our working 45-acre farm, where looking after the land is part of everyday life. We have planted 2,500 trees with the Woodland Trust, expanded our woodland, restored meadow habitats and created water scrapes for wildlife. Our farm is now recognised as a County Wildlife Site, and we’re continuing to work towards making the land richer in wildlife and biodiversity.

95% of the cabin was made using reclaimed, recycled or materials sourced on site. We believe in making, mending and doing what we can with what we have.

For us, regeneration isn’t a label to put on a website. It’s the ongoing work of caring for a place, learning from it and leaving it a little better than we found it.

What happens next?

On 3rd December 2026, we’ll head to Plymouth for the Devon Tourism Awards ceremony, where the results will be revealed.

We know that we’ll receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze award in each of our three finalist categories! WOW! Whatever happens on the night, reaching the final in all three categories is something we’ll always be proud of. To have its story recognised in this way means a huge amount to us.

And if you’ve stayed with us, followed along, shared a post, left a review or simply taken the time to tell someone about our little corner of Dartmoor, thank you. You’re part of this story, too. Huge congratulations to all the other finalists and we look forward to meeting you very soon!

With love from our little corner of the moor,

Sarah & Nick
